20 Times Kate Moss made a pair of jeans look better than anyone else could

No other woman has done as much for the popularity of skinny jeans as Kate Moss.

With the possible exception of Sienna Miller, no other woman has done as much for the popularity of skinny jeans as Kate Moss. Fashion's interest in spray-on denim tends to wax and wane, but in the years post-millennium, women everywhere were wrestling themselves into drainpipe denim in an attempt to emulate the supermodel, whose off-duty uniform of grey skinnies – worn with Vivienne Westwood Pirate boots or her Repetto flats – had infiltrated every corner of the high street.

In the mid-2010s, Mossy reached for her skin-tight Siwy, Rag & Bone, or Citizens of Humanity jeans for weekends in Paris, to sit front row at fashion week, and for weeknight dinners at Mr. Chow – and was so devoted to her J Brand Super Skinnies she even wore them in St. Barts. In summer, she added K. Jacques sandals, in winter, killer knee-highs, and her beloved shaggy faux fur Dan coat by her friend Stella McCartney.

She's still got a soft spot for second-skin denim – now worn with fringed Saint Laurent ankle boots, her favorite Western-inspired Cora boots from Texan brand Justin, or simply – when she swaps London for Glasto or her country pile in the Cotswolds – a pair of wellies. But these days, Kate is a key figure in the bootcut jeans revival and is frequently seen in relaxed Mother Denim. Most recently, she made a surprise appearance on the runway at Matthieu Blazy's debut Bottega Veneta show in Milan, wearing a simple baggy jeans/white tank/plaid shirt combination that on Kate, looked luxe.
